Valerie Ann Keller Helle was born on September 21, 1966, to Gladys and Albert Keller in Edinburg, Texas. Valerie (Val) was celebrated as the youngest member of their household. She grew up on a farm in McCook, Texas, where she learned how to farm and care for animals from her daddy. It is also where her momma taught her how to cook, sew, and can–skills she continued and enjoyed her entire life. She then attended Abilene Christian University before starting her family. \n\nAlways a pillar of support and love, she raised her three children over the next several years, creating a home full of chaos, fun, music, and laughter. She found tremendous joy in being “Aunt Val” to dozens of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Valerie also provided loving influence and support to a number of her children’s friends whom she loved and treated as her own. Val loved fiercely, teased lovingly, and gave generously. Her absence will be felt by all who were blessed to be impacted by her vibrant, tenacious spirit. \n\nVal was a multifaceted woman and there was never a dull moment when she was around. She loved taking her family and friends to Falcon Lake to swim, fish, and enjoy time together. She was also an accomplished realtor at Gaston Properties and experienced success in everything she put her mind to. Her loyalty, generosity, and selfless nature fostered many lifelong friendships that she cherished deeply. She loved her way into the hearts of countless people and made it a point to maintain those relationships despite time and distance. \n\nLater in life, Val traveled around the globe, igniting joy wherever she went. If you bumped into Valerie Helle, you bumped into the very best part of your day. The most important things in Val’s life were always her family and friends; she never failed to be there for them. If you knew her, you shared a laugh–or many–with her.\n\nVal wouldn’t forgive us if we didn’t at least mention her two loyal companions–Sadie Ann and Beth Buttons. They were the last of many lucky canines to enter into her care.\n\nValerie Helle is survived by her two sons, Michael Albert Helle (Kandi) and Troy Winston Helle (Meredith), and her daughter, Megan Elizabeth Helle Stuart (Trevor). She is also survived by her only sibling, Eunice Ann Beamsley, and her four grandchildren, Michael Fisher Helle, Graham Winston Helle, Macey Kay Helle, and Sloane Larson Helle.\n\nVisitation will be on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in McCook. The funeral mass will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow.\nIn lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Laurie P. Andrews PAWS Center Animal Shelter or to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church McCook in Val’s name.
