Mission - Sara Vela, loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, age 50, entered eternal rest surrounded by her family and friends on Friday, November 19, at Mission Regional Medical Center. Her sudden death came as a shock to all who knew her. \n \n Sara was born on October 30, 1971, to Jose Guadalupe Vela and Ester Vela Botello in McAllen. \n \n Sara is survived by her mother Ester Vela (Antonio) Botello, her brother Carlos (Lucy) Rodriguez, Jose Alberto "Beto" (Armandina) Vela, her niece Dehra, and nephews Daniel and Aaron. She is preceded in death by her father Jose Guadalupe Vela. \n \n She was a graduate of Mission High School Class of 1990 and earned a degree in interdisciplinary studies from South Texas College. She had an extensive career working for Hidalgo County and was looking forward to retirement. She contributed her time to local politics and building relationships, but the time with family and specifically her niece and nephews were the ones that meant the most to her. \n \n Sara doted on her family and was happiest when surrounded by them. She was a fearless and jubilant soul who undoubtedly left a mark in the lives of anyone she crossed paths with. She was a loving, kind, and nurturing person who was always willing to give a helping hand and requested nothing in return. She lived life to the fullest and always greeted you with a warm smile, hug, and kiss. To know Sara was an adventure. \n \n She will be remembered for her cheerful disposition, undying loyalty, and her genuine caring demeanor. She possessed a unique trait that many aspire to, but few genuinely achieve - the ability to be truly non-judgmental and unconditional in providing care and support. \n \n Even though Sara was taken too soon, she lived an extraordinary life surrounded by people who adored her. \n \n Please join us as we celebrate this special person's life at Ric Brown Funeral Home: visitation is on Friday, November 26 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Rosary will be held later that evening from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Mission Event Center. \n \n A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 11:30 a.m. with an interment to follow at Valley Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. \n \n In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sara Vela's name to the city of Mission - All-Inclusive Park.
