In Loving Memory of
Roberto Garcia Arguelles
“Robert”
November 29, 1942 – October 2, 2026
Roberto Garcia Arguelles, lovingly known as Robert, passed away on October 2, 2026, at the age of 83, in Alton, Texas. He was born on November 29, 1942, in Mercedes, Texas, where he grew up and attended school.
On May 7, 1964, Robert married the love of his life, Maria Irma Arguelles. Together, they built a life and family rooted in love, faith, hard work, and devotion to God.
Robert was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant of God. He was a wise, loving, patient, and gentle man with a quiet spirit. He worked hard to lead and provide for his family and was always willing to offer guidance, encouragement, and support.
Robert worked in furniture restoration and upholstery and built his own furniture business. He was a skilled craftsman who took pride in restoring and creating beautiful things. His hands did much more than work—they provided for his family, built a home, guided his children, held them up when they fell, offered a proud pat on the back, and gave loving hugs. His hands reflected the kind of man he was: hardworking, caring, and devoted to those he loved.
Faith was at the center of Robert’s life. He served as a minister and pastored a church in Oxnard, California, where he led and discipled many people in their walk with Jesus Christ. He faithfully shared his love for God and sought to lead his family by example.
His favorite Bible verse was Romans 8:28, which speaks of God working all things together for good for those who love Him. This verse reflected the faith and trust in God that guided Robert throughout his life.
Robert treasured time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His influence will continue through the generations he loved and helped shape.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Irma Arguelles; his children, Robert (Bobby) Arguelles, Maridel Wisehart (Edwin), David Arguelles, and Vanessa Castillo (Lolly); his grandchildren, Amanda Brown (Robert), Jeremy Wisehart, Itzel Canalas, Alisha Arguelles (Ron), Brianna Salazar (Juan Carlos), and Cinderella Bustos (Alejandro); and his great-grandchildren, Kayden Brown, Eliana Brown, Malakai Arguelles, Melody Arguelles, Sophia Salazar, Carlos Salazar, Amri Salazar, and Evan Lopez. He is also survived by his siblings, Rudy Arguelles (Gloria) and Fernando Arguelles (Minnie), along with extended family and many loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Arguelles and Ercelia Arguelles; his brother, Guadalupe Arguelles Jr.; and his sister, Leticia Hill.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing that Robert’s faith was firmly placed in Jesus Christ. We believe this goodbye is not forever and that we will see him again in Heaven, where there is no more sorrow or pain.
Until we meet again in Heaven, we will carry you in our hearts and thank God for the blessing of having you in our lives.
You were deeply loved, and you will be deeply missed.
