Robert Darrell Longwell, born August 4, 1952, was a man who truly lived life in the most colorful way possible. Unfailingly adventurous, he possessed an infectious zeal for life that left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His witty sense of humor and creative spirit were cornerstones of his personality, making him a cherished company amongst family and friends. A lifelong resident of Mission, Texas, Robert Darrell was a devoted father and a loyal friend, whose laughter and warm heart will forever echo in the hearts of those he left behind.\n\nA reliable companion and a skilled mechanic, Robert Darrell had a special place in his heart for Mustangs. The rumble of an engine and the gleam of a well-tuned machine were his music and art. It was in those moments, with grease on his hands and a twinkle in his eye, that one could truly see the depth of his passion and commitment. His love for these iconic vehicles was not merely about their power or performance, but also about the freedom and adventure they represented. As Antoine de Saint-Exupéry once said, 'He who would travel happily must travel light.' And Robert Darrell did just that, driving his beloved Mustangs with the wind in his hair and a smile on his face.\n\nRobert Darrell is survived by his loving daughter, Crystal Reyes; a son Robert Michael Longwell; his grandsons Sergio Omar Reyes, Cody Ivan Reyes, Justin Tyler Reyes, Michael Dylan Longwell and Joseph Lyle Longwell; and his two sisters Suzanne (Dr. Bruce) Gray and Lorraine Longwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Pauline Longwell. Visitation will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel, 701 E. Expressway 83, Mission, TX. A chapel service will take place on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.\n\nIn celebrating Robert Darrell's life, we remember not just the finality of his departure, but the joy, laughter, and love he brought into our lives.
