Mission, Texas
Ramona "Mona" Martinez, age 73, of Mission, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on August 15, 2026. She faced her final years with quiet grace and dignity, and her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now free and resting safely in the arms of our Lord.
Born on April 16, 1953, in Mission, Texas, Mona lived a life rooted deeply in faith, family, and community. She graduated from Mission High School in 1972, and not long after, she accepted a position with the City of Mission. She served the community as the City Secretary for many years until her retirement. Mona was also a devout Catholic, faithfully attending weekly Mass at both Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mission.
Above all, Mona loved every moment spent in the company of her family and friends. Deeply devoted to her home and community, she centered her life around her daughters, serving as their Girl Scout troop leader, CCD teacher, and a frequent volunteer at their school and church events. She balanced her professional dedication with a love for gardening, traveling, and cooking.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Carlos H. Martinez; her loving daughters, Gina Gonzales (Todd Dantone) and Glenda Longoria (Justin); her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Noah Gonzales (Brandy), Katelyn Nicole Gonzales, Luke Joseph Longoria, and Mila Brooke Longoria; and her precious great-grandson, Noah Jace Gonzales.
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear." — Unknown
