Mission--Ophelia Munoz Rodriguez, 93, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Mission Regional Medical Center. \n \n Ophelia Rodriguez, a retired elementary school educator, was born on April 14, 1928 in Mission, Texas. \n \n She is preceded in death by her parents Antonio Munoz and Apolonia V. Munoz. Sisters Lily Gamboa, Apolonia Abarca, Oralia Lowetz, \n Maria E. Munoz; Brothers Antonio Munoz Jr., Juventino Munoz and Juan Munoz. \n \n Her sister Irma Leo is the only remaining sibling survivor. \n \n Additional survivors include her husband of 65 years, Eriberto G. Rodriguez, sons Richard Lee Rodriguez and Kris Edward Rodriguez and grandchildren Alec Gabriel Rodriguez and Sophia Leigh Rodriguez. \n \n A lifelong champion of education, Rodriguez served 32 years as an elementary school teacher in the Mission Independent School District. \n \n The devoted mother and grandmother, enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, and making her own clothing. She was also an active member participating in choir, \n scripture studies, and fellowship at El Mesias Methodist Church. \n \n Her family will greatly miss her presence in their lives and the example she set to follow. \n \n A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec.14 at Rick Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
