Nora Iris Pedraza

–

Mission, Texas

If I, Nora Iris Pedraza, had to describe myself in a few words, I'd say, "I was charismatic, funny, humble, and courageous." I was born on March 2, 1965, in McAllen, Texas, and I built a beautiful life in Mission, Texas. Some knew me as Nora, others as Gina, a nickname I gave myself when I met my beloved husband, Hector. Of all the roles I played, being a mother to our son, Dobie, was the one I cherished most. Wherever I was, Dobie was right beside me.

I loved to shop. It wasn't just about the things; it was about the experience, the laughter, and the memories made with my sisters. I would often say, "Life is short, so buy what you want and enjoy it." It was a mantra I lived by, sprinkling joy and humor wherever I went. I was also immensely proud of a painting I received as an award in school. It was a symbol of perseverance and creativity, qualities I valued and nurtured.

As a devout Catholic, I was part of a strong prayer group with my sister Pam at the Holy Spirt Catholic Church. We were warriors of God, standing firm in our faith. As Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This verse guided my life, encouraging me to confront challenges with courage and grace.

My home was a sanctuary filled with love, laughter, and the occasional white lie about doctor appointments that were actually shopping escapades. I believed everything happened for a reason, and I lived each day seeking happiness and unity. I held no grudges, for life was too short, and family was too precious. We stick together until the end.

I leave behind, my loving husband, Hector Pedraza; my son, Dobie Pedraza; siblings Palmira (Zeke) Torres, Norma (Jose) Cervantes, Jerry (Alicia) Sanchez, Christina (Thomas) Likeness, and Michelle Sanchez. I join my parents, Rene and Ernestina, and my brother, Ruben, in eternal rest.

I invite you to celebrate my life at a public visitation on Sunday, 03 Dec 2023 at 4:00 pm at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home. A rosary will be held later at 7:00 pm. On Monday, 04 Dec 2023, a mass will be held at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission, followed by burial at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen, Texas, at 11:00 am.

In remembering me, remember the joy, the laughter, and the love. Please, share your memories and upload photos to my memorial page. Let's make our days happy, because life is short and family is forever.
