MCALLEN - Mario Tijerina, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. He was born September 17, 1968 in Edinburg and lived in McAllen, Texas. \n Mario was preceded in death by his brother Rueben and oldest son Mario Alberto Tijerina. \n Mario is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Rosa Tijerina and his children; Desiree Tijerina; Megan (Mauricio) Valles of La Blanca; Marcos Antiono Tijerina of La Blanca; step-children BJ Avila and Ramona Garza; parents Jose Ruben and Oralia Tijerina of Edinburg; brothers, Osbaldo Tijerina, Arnoldo Tijerina and sisters Alma Figueroa, Thelma Vazquez, Teodocia Valdez and Martha Tijerina. \n Mario graduated from Edinburg High School. He started working as a mechanic apprentice after high school and became a certified mechanic. He opened his own mechanic shop where he thrived in helping others. He always had an easy going, positive disposition that attracted people to him. Everyone called him a true and loyal friend who would extend a helping hand where needed. He never met a stranger. He was happy working at the shop or barbecuing at the house with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest. He will be sorely missed. \n His family all loved him dearly and we look forward to the day we will see him and our Lord Savior. Visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Ric Brown Funeral Home of Mission from 1 pm to 9 pm; memorial service at 6:00 pm and rosary at 7:00 pm giving an opportunity for all to say their goodbyes. Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Alton. Burial service will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission.
