Maria Adelaida Dosher, a loving wife, respected educator, aunt and grandmother quietly and unexpectedly slipped into the arms of God on November 5, 2022. She was 70 years old. \n \n Maria was born in Mexico on March 2, 1952 to Felix and Isabele Hernandez. As a longtime resident of Mission, she loved time with family. She was a devoted daughter who regularly cared for and welcomed time with her parents. She absolutely adored being an aunt and grandmother to her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Although distance kept meetings less frequent than she would have desired, their lives were always on her heart. \n \n Maria married Jud Dosher on June 16, 1990 having recently celebrated 32 years of loving marriage. If ever two people were meant to be together, Jud and Maria were perfectly paired. Together they prepared a well-manicured garden, provided feed for spotting birds, and cared for their beloved Type A cat. Maria was an excellent cook and often shared this gift with family and friends. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education from Pan American University in Edinburg. These degrees prepared her as a cherished teacher for 36 years at Valley View North Elementary, in the Port Arthur Independent School District, and the La Joya Independent School Districts. Her compassion and concern for her students impacted generations and remained a passion in her life following retirement. Maria will be immensely missed. \n \n Survivors include her husband Jud Dosher; parents Felix and Isabel Hernandez; brother Mario Omar Hernandez Sr. (Orfelinda), nephew Mario Omar Hernandez Jr. (Anna), great nephew Anthony, and great nieces Auliya, Anaya, Erianna, and Annayeri Longoria, niece Ana Laura Garcia (Cruz), and great niece Myah Le’Ann, and nephew Juan Carlos; brother Juan Felix Hernandez (Imelda); and stepson Ryan Dosher (Brenda), grandson Arlen; step-daughter Lana Wright (Rocky), grand children Haley Samataua (AJ), Owen, Emma and Elise Wright, great grandson Freddy Samataua. \n \n Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 4:00pm at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mission with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A chapel service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mission with burial to follow at Rio Grande State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
