Margie Ela James was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She left this world to be with her heavenly Father on August 10, 2023 at age 75. \n Born to be a teacher, Margie earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Pan American College. She went on to dedicate decades of her life to teaching in the Rio Grande Valley. She met her husband, LeRoy, during her years in college. Together, they had 3 beautiful children: Monique, Nathan, and Ashley.\n Margie loved spending time reading, learning, teaching, and traveling. A devoted Christian, she loved the Lord and believed he was watching over her throughout her life. Margie enjoyed movie nights with her loved ones and Christmas was her favorite time of year. She was greatly looking forward to her move to Florida, where she planned on living the rest of her life with her son and daughter in their new home. Forever an educator, she wanted to continue to teach and read to children at a local library there.\n Margie is survived by her daughters Monique (Dean) Baxter and Ashley James; a son Nathan James; her grandchildren Kyleigh and Clinton Baxter; her siblings Maria Elena (Amancio) Chapa, Estela Salinas, Roberto Quintanilla, Jr., Gilberto (Karen) Quintanilla, Ruben (Delia) Quintanilla, Sylvia (Armando) Garza and Olga (Simone) Hanna. She is preceded in death by her husband LeRoy James; a granddaughter Rhiannon Rose; and a brother-in-law Joel Salinas.\n Visitation will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel with a chapel service to be held at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, TX.
