We gather here today to honor the life of Marco Antonio Salinas, born on October 7, 1962, in Mexico, and who passed on October 25, 2023. Marcos was a courageous man of deep faith and an enduring pillar in the Mission, Texas community. A gentle soul with a heart bigger than Texas itself, he was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe, never missing a Friday morning mass at La Lomita. He was a man who embodied the verse from the book of Matthew, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Marcos was indeed pure of heart, and his spirit continues to inspire all who knew him.\n\nMarcos was a reliable and compassionate man who found joy in simple pleasures. He loved fishing and hunting, spending quality time with his loved ones, barbecuing, and painting cascarones. His thoughtful nature and love for his family were evident in all he did. His commitment and hard work culminated in his achievement as a successful business owner for 10 years in the maintenance industry. His dedication to his work was only surpassed by the love he held for his family, whom he considered his greatest accomplishment.\n\nMarcos is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Maria Elena, his beloved children, Anabelle and Daniel, his siblings Socorro (Antonio) Martinez, Luis, Jose, and Juan (Veronica). He is preceded in death by his parents, Raul and Guadalupe Salinas, and his siblings, Raul Jr., Maria Rincon, and Mario Salinas. Although they are not his children, Mary (Cesar) Molina, Fernando Garcia Jr., Melissa (Jorge) Moreno, and Laura Lopez held a special place in his heart.\n\nThe family would like to extend their gratitude to his healthcare team, which includes Dr. Roberto Lopez, Deborah Nelson Dooley and the entire WellMed Team. \n\nThe viewing for Marcos will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 8:30 am at Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission. Marcos's final resting place will be at San Jose Cemetery, where the burial of ashes will take place at 11:00 am.\n\nWe encourage all who knew and loved Marcos to contribute their memories and upload photos to his online memorial page. Through our shared recollections, we can celebrate the remarkable life of Marcos Salinas, a man who gave so much of himself to those around him. His legacy is a testament to a life lived with purpose, integrity, and an abundance of love.
