Juan Jose "JJ" Vela, affectionately known as "Johnny Joe Candle," was a loving, thoughtful, creative, and smart individual whose presence brought joy and inspiration to all who knew him. Born on December 11, 1998, in McAllen, Texas, Juan's zest for life and passion for adventure were evident from an early age.\n\nJuan's love of family was paramount, and he was devoted to caring for his Grandpa Joe and Grandma Princess. He cherished spending time with his nieces, nephews, and goddaughter Gigi, delighting in their laughter and play. His hobbies included going on hikes, enjoying good music, and immersing himself in the worlds of Marvel and Star Wars through his favorite video games.\n\nIn his pursuit of adventure and a connection with nature, Juan founded the W.M.B.A.H nature hike club alongside his close family members. This group allowed him to share his enthusiasm for the outdoors and foster stronger bonds with his loved ones. A bright and determined young man, Juan was attending college and was due to graduate in December 2023.\n\nJuan is survived by his father, Juan Sr., and his mother, Sandra Vela. His life will be celebrated and remembered with a public viewing on Wednesday, 21 Jun 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home - Alamo, located at 841 East Austin Avenue, Alamo, Texas, 78516.
