Jose Isabel "Pepe" Vargas Lopez, known to friends and family as Jose I. Vargas, was a resilient, creative, and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who lived his life with spirited passion. Born on April 25, 1954, in Arteaga, Coahuila, Mexico, he spent much of his life in Mexico and the United States, where he became a successful entrepreneur and a pillar of strength for his family. Jose I. passed away on May 28, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, determination, and ingenuity.\n\nAs the saying goes, "Where there is a will, there is a way," and for Jose I., there was always a way. His MacGuyver-like ability to fix things and find solutions earned him the nickname Pepe Vargas. A man of many talents, he was not only a dedicated businessman but also a lover of music, from boleros to huapangos and polkas. His spirited presence could always light up a room. Known for his love of grilling, his home remedies, and his unyielding support for the Mexican soccer team Tigres de Nuevo León, Jose I. was a man who embraced life with gusto and determination.\n\nJose I. is survived by his wife, Enriqueta Estrada de Vargas; his children, Luis (Jessie) Vargas, Jose Jr., and Cynthia Vargas; his grandchildren, Arizbeth, Yahir, and Isaiah Vargas; and his daughter-in-law, Janixia Vargas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jorge Vargas and Maria Lopez. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 4:00 PM CDT at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in McAllen, Texas, followed by a rosary service at 7:00 PM CDT.
