Johnnie Lee Pennington

Major (Ret.) Johnnie Pennington, USAF, 90, faithful daughter, sibling, relative, friend and humanitarian, passed away Tuesday, Aug 21, 2026, at Alfredo Gonzalez TSVH.
She was an example of a model citizen and was extremely special. In her wake she leaves a legacy of kindness, ingenuity, big dreams and endless story telling. Throughout her life, Johnnie prepared for the final calling. She welcomed Jesus’ invitation “Come to me all who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mathew 11:28). We thank you God for the gift of Miss Johnnie in our life-we will not forget the good and faithful servant. We acknowledge the passing of a fellow human being and pause to honor a life well lived.
Those who knew her remember how proud she was to have been a major in the Air Force. She was a retired teacher who taught home economics and tennis. She loved cats and was a Sunday school teacher. She was the resident council president at the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home and their lead for the honor guard.
