Jaime Jorge "Jimmy" Sanchez

–

Mission, Texas

Jaime Jorge Sanchez, affectionately known as "Jimmy" by his many friends, family and acquaintances, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in McAllen, Texas, to the late Heriberto Sanchez and Maria Angelica Rios, Jimmy graduated from McAllen High School in 1972 and attended Pan American University.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Carolyn Lynn Sanchez, his childhood sweetheart; his son, Michael James Sanchez; his daughter, Michelle Lea Alvarez; his grandchildren, Damian Soliz, Stephen Alvarez, Victoria Alvarez, Ava Sanchez, Cecilia Alvarez; and his great-grandchildren, Teagan and Brodie Soliz. He is also survived by his brother, Heriberto Heron Sanchez, and his sister, Veronica Lynn Sanchez.

Jimmy was known for his infectious sense of humor and his remarkable ability to make friends with anyone he met. He had a natural talent for putting people at ease with his jokes and engaging personality. Always willing to strike up a conversation, Jimmy relished meeting new people and forming lasting connections. His warmth and friendliness endeared him to many, making him a beloved figure in his community.

Jimmy was a man of many passions. He enjoyed entertaining, cooking—especially barbequing—listening to music, traveling, and volunteering for various community, civic, and social organizations. A true American patriot, Jimmy was an active member of the Tea Party and took great pride in leading the Trump Train with his truck, famously outfitted with a loud train horn.

A man of faith, Jimmy found great joy in his Christian faith, having accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and being baptized. He was a member of Palm Valley Church in Mission, where he loved attending services.

Professionally, Jimmy dedicated over 40 years to the oil field service industry, working with esteemed companies such as Halliburton, Frac Master, Texas Cementing, and Schlumberger. Beginning his career as a shop helper, he rose to the position of supervisor/coordinator, training many new employees and engineers. He was passionate about mentoring his colleagues, often encouraging them to advance and sharing his extensive knowledge to ensure his legacy lived on. Even after retirement, former coworkers frequently sought his advice, a testament to his expertise and the high regard in which he was held.
