Mission, Texas

Isabel “Challa” Gonzalez was born on July 2, 1928, in Durango, Durango, Mexico
and passed away on September 16, 2024, in McAllen, Texas.

She is survived by her (4) children, Maria Reyna, Ramiro (Frances) Perez, Rene (Rosie) Olivo and Elena (Aldo) Alvarado. She has ten (10) grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren. Challa came from Mexico and entered the Rio Grande Valley around 1945 through Abram-Perezville, Texas.  She lived part of her life in El Ojo De Agua working, cleaning and cooking for many and then later moved to Mission, Texas, where she lived the rest of her life and raised her children. Challa had a best friend/sister Elma Villarreal+ who she now is reunited with along with other family.  She worked as a farm worker to raise her children. Challa loved to cook, her food and tortillas were the best! She loved music, dancing, traveling, parties and one of her favorite meals was nopalitos con huevo, of course, not without Chile del monte made in the Molcajete.  Her favorite fruit was mango. Challa was a humble beautiful lady inside out and would take off her shirt to help anyone.  She will be greatly missed by all of us!
To the best MOM, GRANDMA and NANI in the world, we will Love You always! Your children and family.
