Gloria was born to Merced and Antonia Olvera in McAllen, TX (2/4/1956) where she attended Thigpen, Zavala, Lincoln and finally McAllen and graduated in 1975. During high school, she met her (Sugar Bear) Jesus Garcia, her husband of 51 years (September 6th). They went on to have 4 children (Jesus, Raul, Elizabeth, and Rafael) though Elizabeth passed away in premature state and Rafael (Ralph) passed away in 2009 (27). Gloria was a fun-loving person who loved God and truly taking care of her family. When her kids were old enough, she quickly returned to the workforce where she spent more than 25 years working in the custodial service for McAllen I.S.D. and Mission C.I.S.D.

Her personal hobbies included buying and playing the lottery, doing crossword puzzles, collecting cookbooks, and especially singing. She enjoyed many different styles of music spanning from the 50s and on.

She is survived by her husband Jesus Garcia, her son Jesus Jr. and his wife April along with their children Maria Elizabeth and Julian Rafael. She is also survived by her son Raul and his wife Yeny along with their son Karl Albert. Gloria is also survived by her brothers and sisters Fausto, Ignacio (Nacho), Maria, Ramon, Santos, Merced, Gabriel, and Elena (her brother Robert had passed in 1984).

She will be be dearly missed as she was always very loving, kind, patient, and was always positive even in when all odds were stacked against her. She showed that no matter what life throws at you, as long as you have God you can get through anything positively in His trust.
