Esmeralda Anzaldua, the heart of her family and a beacon of laughter and love, bid the world her warm farewell on December 4th, 2023. Born on February 24th, 1971 in Pharr, Texas, to Minda Anzaldua and the late Alberto Anzaldua, Esmeralda filled her 52 years with a contagious zest for life, which she generously shared with all those fortunate enough to cross her path. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "It is not length of life, but depth of life," and Esmeralda's life was indeed one of profound depth, filled with love, laughter, and the joy of living.\n\nEsmeralda brought smiles to the faces of her community while working as a store clerk in McAllen, Texas, her beloved hometown. She was a loving mother, a cherished daughter, an adored sister, a doting grandmother, and a faithful friend. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life - the laughter of her grandchildren, the companionship of her dog Faith, and the thrill of a bingo game with family and friends. Her love for the beach was as vast as the ocean itself. She found peace in the rhythm of the waves and the serenity of the horizon. Her vibrant spirit was reflected in her love for having her hair braided, a simple gesture that mirrored her intricate and lively personality.\n\nEsmeralda is survived by her children, Valerie Nicole Mandujano, Melanie Mandujano, and Jody Molina; her mother, Minda Anzaldua; her sisters, Imelda Hernandez and Idalia Anzaldua; her companion, Juan Molina, and six beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Alberto Anzaldua. As William Wordsworth so eloquently said, "Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower, we will grieve not, but find strength in what remains behind." Esmeralda will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched and loved. \n\nVisitation, Rosary, and Memorial service for Esmeralda will be held at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 13th from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
