Dolores Evelyn Shaeffer, 88, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in Mission, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore (Ted) Shaeffer, and her parents, Elwin and Agnes Ozias. She is survived by her brother, Darrel Ozias, her sister-in-law, Beth Ozias, and many nieces and nephews.\n\nDolores (known by all as “Dee”) was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt and friend. She was an artistic person whose creations brightened everyone’s day. From homemade Christmas stockings and extravagantly decorated birthday and graduation cakes to crocheted blankets and hand-painted ceramics, you could be assured any gift from Dee was made with talent, love and hard work. \n\nDee was an avid sports fan. In her college days, she could be found on the basketball court playing for AIC in Davenport, IA. After they were married, Dee and Ted spent many weekends at Knoxville Speedway watching Sprint Car races on Saturday nights. Of course, it wasn’t rare to see Dee decked out in black and gold rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes. \n\nDee enjoyed spending her retirement years as a “Winter Texan” with her many friends at Canyon Lake RV Park in Mission, Texas. She will be missed by all who knew her. \n\nNo formal funeral services are planned. Her wish was to be cremated. A celebration of life will occur at a future date.
