Alva Rocha

–

Mission, Texas

Alva was born in Mission, TX and lived there all her life.
She had desires to travel and after many years as a State of Texas employee retired to do so, but life has a way of making other plans and with her husband’s illness she cared for him for over 12 years, sadly she was unable to fulfill her dream as she also succumbed to the same illness.
She was devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and a member of Damas Catolicas. She found peace every night in reading her bible and saying her prayers which brought her comfort.
Her heart was pure and genuine, never met a stranger, loved to dance, took meticulous care in how she looked and dressed and was the biggest Dallas Cowboy fan! She could yell and out scream anyone!
There was never a time dropping in on her that you would find empty candy dishes, her favorite being tootsie pops, butterscotch and peppermints, she always had a stash in her pocket or her purse just in case.
She could make you laugh with one of her one liners like Yesssss errrrrrrrie Bob! Or Quidado esta cosa mata (when we were in the car), Atta boy chi cho boy or Te pido ojas y me traes ramas, we aren’t sure what this one means? The way she said them made you laugh and cry!
She was funny and loved her family and never had a harsh word for anyone nor judged them. In fact she was very trusting and generous almost to a fault.
Her daily ritual was worrying that her sister Lucy had not called so something must be wrong, if one didn’t call the other did, they were so in sync, and nothing was ever wrong thank goodness.
Her favorite pass time was watching Judge Judy, Price is Right and Jeopardy (she was really good at answering questions) and would have been a good contestant. She always looked forward to playing cards with her sisters and friends, but truly it was because she got to spend time with them, that was most important to her.
Alva was preceded in death by her parents Edward Downey Jr. and Eva Ramirez Davis. Her husband Rojelio (Roy) Rocha along with brothers Jose Trinidad (Infant)and Edward Downey Davis III and
Sisters Hilaria Guadalupe Davis (Infant), Eva Richardson (McAllen), Rita Barrera (Dallas) and Gloria Longoria (Mission).

Alva is survived by sons Roy (Lolly) Rocha of Cedar Park, TX and Richard L. Rocha; brother Henry (Lina) Davis of Mission, TX; sister Lucy De Los Santos of Mission. As well as by her four grandchildren Michael John (Cristina) Rocha of Austin, Roy A. Rocha of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Audrey N. Rocha of Leander, TX,
Ross Rocha of Cedar Park, TX; three great grandchildren Andrea Victoria Rocha of Austin, TX, John Michael Rocha of Austin, Tx, Christopher G. Morgan of Leander, TX.

We thank God we had her 96 years, but it’s never easy saying goodbye to a loved one. Life is busy, life is crazy, life can be so short, take each day with your loved ones and cherish every memory you make together as we are all on borrowed time.
We love you Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, sister, aunt and friend. God Bless you! ❤️
