Alma Lopez

–

Mission, Texas

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Alma Lopez, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

She was born to the late Benita T. Garza and Agustin Garza Sr., who instilled in her the values of family, hard work, and resilience that she carried throughout her life.

For over 20 years, she faithfully worked at Junior’s Supermarket, where she became a familiar and cherished face in the Alton community. If you ever walked through those doors, chances are you knew her. She welcomed everyone with warmth, kindness, and a smile that made you feel at home.

She was famously known as the best cook. Her kitchen was the gathering place for family, filled with the smell of home-cooked meals, laughter, and love. Food was her love language, and no one ever left her house hungry. The memories made around her table will be treasured forever.

She loved spending time with her brothers and sisters, especially enjoying time together gambling, sharing laughter and long drives. Those moments brought her so much joy.

Above all, her greatest love was her family. She loved her children, Adelinda Lopez and Alberto Lopez Jr., with a fierce and unconditional devotion. Her grandchildren — Juan Carreon, Reanna Zapata, Khloe Zapata, Anthony Alexander Lopez, Natalie Aliza Lopez, Andrea Lopez, and Kylie Alexandria Lopez — were her pride and joy. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchild, Julian Carreon, who brought her immense happiness.

She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Alberto Lopez Sr., as well as her parents, Benita T. Garza and Agustin Garza Sr., and her siblings Agustin Garza Jr. and Humberto Garza.

She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Arnulfo Garza, Christina Garza, Ida Garza, Gonzalo Garza, and Graciela Garza.

Her legacy is one of unconditional love, strength, generosity, and family. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing her love lives on in every recipe, every story shared, and in the beautiful family she built.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
