In Loving Memory of Adela De La Rosa
Our mother, Adela De La Rosa, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, in Mission, Texas, at the age of 93. She was born on April 7, 1933, in Mission, Texas, and lived a long and beautiful life surrounded by family and the people she loved.
Our mother was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She spent many years building a loving home for our family. In 1965, she and Our father, Eliberto De La Rosa, settled in McAllen, where they raised their children and made a lifetime of memories. She remained in McAllen until moving to Mission Valley Nursing Home in Mission.
Mom was an amazing cook, and some of Our fondest memories are connected to the food she made for our family. Her homemade tortillas, mashed potatoes, and carne guisada were legendary and were staples in the De La Rosa household. Her cooking was more than just food—it was one of the ways she showed her family how much she loved us.
She especially loved her grandchildren and would light up whenever they came to visit. She doted on them and cherished every moment she had with them. Her family was her greatest joy, and the love she gave us will continue through every generation.
Mom was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eliberto De La Rosa; her brothers, Erasmo, Ruben, and Oscar; and her sisters, America and Esperanza.
She is survived by her sons, Omar De La Rosa and his wife, Mindy, and Octavio De La Rosa and his wife, Carla; her five grandchildren, Stephanie, OJ, Tony, Alex, and Taylor; and her five great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her brothers, Adan and Sabas.
Although saying goodbye to Mom is incredibly difficult, we are grateful for the many years we were blessed to have her with us. Her love, her laughter, her cooking, and the memories she gave our family will remain in our hearts. She will always be Mom, Grandma, and a beloved part of the De La Rosa family.
