Obituary – William “Bill” Robinson
MISSION – William “Bill” Robinson passed away peacefully on September 10th, 2018 in Edinburg Texas at the age of 85.
Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene (Sierens) Robinson; children, William Robinson (Silvia) of McAllen, TX, and Barbara DeAngelis of Salisbury Mills, NY; grandchildren Michelle Wright of Orpington, England, Dr. Christina Ciraco-Kidane of New York, NY and Vincent Ciraco of Salisbury Mills, NY, Brothers Darrel Robinson of Clear Lake, IA and Earl Robinson of Wesley, IA.
He is preceded in death by his Mother Neva Brayton Robinson, Father Clare Robinson and Brothers, Dick Robinson of Eugene, OR and Marion Robinson of Britt, IA.
William was born on May 29, 1933 in Corwith, Iowa. After graduation he worked at the FBI in Washington, DC where he met the love of his life, Irene Sierens. They were married in 1952 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. William joined the United States Air Force and served in Japan as a radio operator during the Korean conflict. After his service, they settled in Madison Wisconsin where they raised two children and where he worked for General Casualty insurance until his retirement in 1990. William and Irene became winter Texans and resided in Mission Texas. In 2004 they became full time Texas residents.
Bill loved the game of golf and was a member at the Mission golf Club. Besides golfing, he also loved fishing as well as genealogy; spending a great deal of time mapping the Robinson and Brayton family trees. He gave freely of his time, first as a Boy Scout Leader for many years, and as an active member and volunteer at Lakeview American Lutheran Church in Madison, WI. and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mission TX. He was also a Member of the Sons of the American Revolution where He served as Secretary and President of the South Texas Chapter.
Visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday September 25, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Ric Brown Funeral Home 621 East Griffin Parkway Mission, TX. Funeral service will be held at 3pm and officiated by Pastor Steven P. Herzberg with a reception to follow at La Hacienda 55+ subdivision, community hall in Mission, TX. The family would like to thank The Bridges at Mission, Edinburg, Kindred Hospice and Brightstar for their care and dedication. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ric Brown Funeral Home in Mission Texas.
