Obituary – Roberto Garza Jr.

MISSION – Roberto “Nune” Garza Jr., 79, passed away on December 13, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. surrounded by his family and loving wife of 60 years. Roberto passed peacefully in his sleep at Pax Villa Hospice Facility in McAllen, Texas.
Roberto was born in Mission, Texas on May 18, 1939. He was the eldest child to parents; Roberto Garza Sr. and Estefana Cavazos Garza.
Roberto was known for his humorous and sociable personality, his great love of music and playing the accordian. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family and talking on the phone to friends.
The family would like to thank Mission DaVita Dialysis Center, all the medical staff who aided Roberto in his stay at the hospital and the Pax Villa Hospice facility.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings; Estefanita Garza, Evangelina (Mario) Munoz, Alejandro (Dora) Garza and Ricardo (Rebecca) Garza. Roberto is survived by his caring wife, Maria de los Angeles Gonzalez Garza , his six children; Eduardo (Olalla) Garza, Roberto (Irma) Garza III, Arturo (Blanca) Garza, Rogelio Garza, Deborah (Joe) Leal, and Anna Maria Garza. Along with being an amiable husband and father, Roberto was an affectionate grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Lydia (Francisco) Santiago, Irma (Jim) Filut, Elsa (Abel) Mata, Mary Alice Garza, America (Isidoro) Reyna, Melinda Garza and brothers, Leobardo (Dora+) Garza, Juan Ramon (Rosario) Garza, Guadalupe (Mary) Garza, Luis (Becky) Garza, Miguel (Estella) Garza. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Santa Fe Celestial Gardens in Mission. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission.
