MCALLEN – Odilio “Lito” Montes, 74, passed away on June 23, 2017. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1963 to 1967. He worked 38 years for the McAllen Fire Department and spent more than 25 years as training chief. His work for the fire department was a source of great pride for him and his family. His kindness, humor, and support has impacted his family and community beyond measure, and his passing leaves a hole in all our hearts. He is preceded in death by his parents, Esteban and Berta Montez. Mr. Montes is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karol Montes; three daughters, Lisa (Esteban) Trevino, Tricia (Jeremy) Hepler, and Amy Montes; three grandchildren, Tristan, Noah, and Natasha; two brothers, Oscar and Eloy; three sisters, Maria Elia, Olga, and Elida. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Chapel in Mission. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Pallbearers will be Rene Gonzalez, Jr., Esteban Martinez, Jose Martinez, Jr., Eloy Montez, Arturo Ortiz, Jr., and Richard Quintanilla, III. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Tristan Molina, Noah Hepler, Natasha Trevino, Jeremy Hepler, and Esteban Trevino, Jr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission.
