WESLACO/PORT ISABEL/MISSION – Mary Frances Morgan, 88, (affectionately known as Nanny) passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at her residence in Mission. Mary was born in San Antonio, TX on August 23, 1928. She married the love of her life Lyle Morgan on April 5, 1947. Early in their marriage, they owned and operated Morgan’s Turkey Farm in Weslaco. Mary played her accordion on TV every day in the early 1960’s for the Moulton Ty Cobb Show. She loved crafts. For many years she and Lyle ran the Val Verde Swimming pool. While living in Weslaco, she was active at the First Methodist Church. She worked for Donna ISD as a Teachers Aid, and retired after 17 years. Mary spent her retirement years at Long Island Village in Port Isabel, and later in Mission.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle Morgan of 51 years; her daughter in law Maribel Morgan; son in law Ric Brown; and a great grandson.
Mary is survived by her 4 children Mary Sue (Gary) Page of Bloomfield, NM, Margaret (Penny O’Connell) Zieger of Jonestown, TX, Ralph Morgan of Weslaco, TX, and Kathy Brown of Mission, TX; her 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous cousin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017, from 1-9pm at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mission. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017, at 7pm at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mission. A cremation will follow. A private committal service will be held at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
