Obituary – Margarita Cañas Ramirez

October 18, 2017

MISSION – Margarita Cañas Ramírez, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on October 16, 2017 at her residence in Mission, Texas. She was born on June 18, 1922 in Fabens, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gonzalo Nicanor and Guadalupe Cañas; her stepmother Francisca R. Cañas; her husband Jesús María Ramírez, her daughter Linda Teresa Ramírez; her siblings, Adelaida Victoria, Alfonso Ignacio, Carlos, Fernando Manuel, Alfonso Julio, Gloria, Benito Gonzalo, and Ramón Ignacio Cañas; her grandson Alejandro Romeo Longoria, and a great grandchild Yasmeen Ledesma Rashid.
She is survived by her daughters Rosa Lilia (Robert) Ledesma and María Margarita (+Alejandro) Longoria; her grandchildren Lilia Gibson, Elena Rashid, and Robert Ledesma; Teresa De Anda and Verónica Longoria; her great grandchildren Joshua Longoria, Josiah González; Sulaiman, Sana, Noor, Iman, Ismail and Rania Rashid; Lauren, Cecilia and Lucas Ledesma; her sister Estilita Balli, and her sisters-in-law Olga Cañas and Lillian H. Ramírez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Ramírez will be held on Tuesday, October 17, from 4 to 9 PM, with a Rosary at 7 PM, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home, 621 E. Griffin Parkway in Mission. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 AM on Wednesday, October 18, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1109 Francisco in Mission, followed by burial at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission.
