Obituary – Manuel Bazan

June 9

MCALLEN/CORPUS CHRISTI – Our family has lost a husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, son, brother and an uncle. Manuel Bazan was born in Alice, Texas and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1967, where he participated in track, football and band. It was during these years that he met his future wife, Isabel Esparza.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps his senior year, and left for boot camp after graduation. After serving two tours in Vietnam he was honorably discharged. After proudly serving his country he married his high school sweetheart and started his family.
Scotty was born first. After several moves then a permanent relocation to McAllen, Jennifer was born. He made his life in the Rio Grande Valley by being a hard working sales representative, providing for his family and making many friends. Manuel was always smiling, loved to barbecue and cheer for his Cowboys and Astros. He was always willing to help others and was a loyal friend. Manuel was quick witted and always had a joke up his sleeve. He was very sarcastic, a trait that his children and grandchildren inherited. He was a true gentlemen and a kind soul.
Manuel passed away in Edinburg at the age of 71 on Monday, June 1, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Bazan Sr., and sister, Diana Bazan. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Isabel Bazan, children; Scott (Angela) Bazan, Jennifer R. Bazan, his granddaughters; Sara and Sydney (who he adored), his mother, Viola Bazan, siblings; Juanita (Lionel) Lopez, David (Rosie) Bazan, Suzie Canales, Cynthia Ann Pena, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission. Funeral mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Corpus Christi. Burial will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi. Services have been entrusted to Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission.

I was lucky enough to have met Mr. Bazan once, he came to a barbecue at my home. He was a honest and genuine man who told me to take care of his son, who was my partner. I told him we take care of each other, he smiled and shook my hand. My condolences go out to everyone who knew him, I was lucky , I got to know 2 Bazan men, father and son, men I both respected. I was one of his son Scott’s trainers at the Dallas Police Department. I never had the honor of meeting Mr. Bazan, but knowing what a good man his son is I’m sure reflects what a fine man he was. Rest, sir……

We were the best of friends with Manuel and Isabel. In a way I was the person that brought him to the business of sales. My manager asked that I interview him and see if he was material of my then company. I voted yes and Manuel started a long career. Thus began a friendship that lasted until his journey to heaven. We were “compadres” as well as best of friends. We had one thing in common we both served in the U.S. Marines Corps (Semper Fi). We will always cherish his memory.

We became compadres when Scott, was born. Manual was a very outgoing and friendly person, i will miss him. May God bring him into his kingdom and may he rest in peace. Roland and Becky Lopez

Our condolences to the family and may he rest in peace. We knew Manuel for many years, my wife Irene knew him in Corpus Christi. I would just like to say that everything people have said about him are true. He and his wife Isabel were wonderful and supportive parents, members of the quarterback club( football boosters) and the Nikki Rowe Band Boosters. This man will be truly missed, till we meet again my friend.

I worked with Manuel for many years with the Kimberly-Clark Corp. He was a professional salesman and our rock in the Rio Grand Valley. He was a hard working team player that always got the job done. He enjoyed the Cowboys and coming to San Antonio for the annual Fiesta Event. He had a great sense of humor always smiling and told some great jokes! Manuel was a man who loved his family always talking about his lovely wife Isabel and children and grand children. Our prayers and condolences to the family.
    RIP Manny
