Obituary – Lillie Mae Trdla-Guerra

September 15

MCALLEN – Loving mother, devoted grandmother, and adored great-grandmother, Lillie Mae Trdla-Guerra, 97 years of age, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was born on August 10, 1920, was a proud 1939 graduate of Mission High School and worked for McAllen I.S.D. for 22 years. Her devoted and loving son David A. Guerra, took great pride in her caretaking and well-being over the years.
Momo Lillie, as she was affectionately called, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, was proud to have never received a driving ticket and cheered for her much-loved Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. She touched the lives of many with her kind heart, warm smile, captivating stories and compassion. She was loved beyond measure and will be missed by all who knew her.
Lillie Mae was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe G. Guerra; parents Joseph B. and Antonia Trdla; grandson Jose Luis “Joey” Guerra; siblings Ray Trdla, Sr. and Lita Haider.
She is survived by her children Joe T. (Nellie ᵻ) Guerra of McAllen, Maria A. “Tonette” (Nat) Iglesias of Laredo, Jesus (Sylvia) Guerra of Sharyland, and Norma (Rick) Tolento of San Antonio; as well as her loving grandchildren Eric G. Iglesias, Lillie Christine (Rick) Rendón, Sarah (Luis) Butler, Luis Alani, Stephanie (John) Hill, Alyssa Guerra, Marlene J. Iglesias, Jessa Guerra, and Erica Jo Tolento; and her beloved great-granddaughters Jasmine C. Rendón, Faith, Grace and Hope Butler, and Lex Alani. She is also survived by her sibling Retired Colonel Joseph R. “Bobby” (Norma) Trdla of McAllen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive guests on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 4-9 PM with a 7 PM rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 15th, at 12 noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission with a burial to follow at 1 PM at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Pallbearers are David A. Guerra, Rick Rendón, Luis Butler, Eric Iglesias, Jasmine Rendón, and Faith Butler. Honorary Pallbearers are Grace and Hope Butler. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.

    Always easy to talk to, Aunt Lillie was full of stories and anecdotes. We enjoyed and loved her company.
    We offer our deepest condolences to her immediate family. We know that you will miss her deeply. As part of her extended family, we are so grateful that she graced us with her presence for as long as she did. May the Divine Mercy of Jesus hold her in His embrace. Jesus we trust in You!
