MISSION – JULIO REYES, 73, went to be with our Lord, on Thursday, January 5, 2017, in McAllen surrounded by his loving family. Julio was a graduate of the class of 1963 from Sharyland High School, in Mission, Texas. Upon graduating from high school Julio served his country in the Vietnam War by enlisting as a medic in the U.S. Army. After serving his country proudly he settled in McAllen and worked as an X-ray Tech. Mr. Reyes, continued serving his Country and community by being a proud member of the Catholic War Veterans in Mission. He was also a member of VFW Post 8788, the Disabled Veterans of Mission, and the Knights of Columbus sector at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, Texas. Julio leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Eva Navarro Reyes and one daughter Amanda Lee Reyes. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Viviana Rodriguez and Ethan Anthony Reyes. Mr. Reyes is also survived by his 4 sisters, Maria Guadalupe Salinas of Mission, Estella Navarette of Edinburg, Esther Salinas of Alton, and Beatrice Reyes of Austin. He also is survived by one brother Rogelio (Guadalupe) Reyes, of Alton. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews to cherish his memory. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Don Merced Chavez Reyes and Antonia Meza Reyes and one brother Felipe Reyes. Mr. Reyes is also proceeded in death by one nephew Nelson Ned Reyes Salinas of Mission, and Cynthia Reyes of Houston. The family will be celebrating Mr. Reyes life with a rosary to be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at 7:00pm at Ric Brown Funeral Home in Mission. A Catholic Service will be held on January 11, 2017, at 2:00p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, with interment to follow at Valley Memorial Gardens. Funeral services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
