MISSION – Juan “John” Ibarra was called home by the Lord on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Mission Regional Medical Center. He was born on April 22, 1947 to Francisco and Francisca Ibarra.
He proudly served two tours in Vietnam during the height of the conflict. He worked 22 years at McAllen Hospitals and 21 years at Mission Regional Medical Center in various departments and his last years as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. He had many close friends that cared about him and some that were with him at his death.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Cano, David, Julio, his sister Rita Guerrero and daughter Sabrina Longoria.
He is survived by his wife Nellie Ibarra, daughter Cynthia (Victor) Solis, Samantha (Aaron) Cuevas and Stephanie Longoria. Also his grandchildren Skyler Ann Hiarmes, Jacob Aiden Cuevas, his Princess Paisley Grace Cuevas, V. Brandon Solis, and Amber R. Solis, his sister Irma Rosa (Jose) Hernandez, his best friend and brother Frank Ibarra as well as many nieces and nephews.
John was a compassionate man who loved to travel and spend time with his family. He will be forever loved and missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, from 5-9 pm with 7pm rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017, 10 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Jarachinas Ranch Cemetery in La Joya.
