Obituary – Jorge Cruz
ALAMO – Jorge Cruz, 69, entered into eternal peace surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Jorge was born on February 22, 1949 to Cornelio (+) and Ana Maria Cruz. He went to Mission High School and graduated in 1968. He then served our country in the Army in the Vietnam War as a combat medic. Upon his return, he attended Pan American University and graduated in 1974. He worked for the United States Postal Service for many years.
Jorge made friends wherever he went and was always making people laugh. From calling people “Ugly” if he didn’t remember your name to asking people if they were working hard or hardly working, he was always making conversation. He always provided great entertainment for all the children, family and friends he was surrounded by. He also had a great love for animals and truly enjoyed teaching his grandchildren about the ones he owned. He will truly be missed.
Jorge is preceded in death by his father, Cornelio Cruz.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his mother, Ana Maria Cruz, his wife, Flora Cruz, his daughters, Geanna Marie Rodriguez, Amy Erica Contreras (Mike), and Claudia Renee Mariscal (Eddie), and his siblings, Janie Vela, Ismael Cruz (Rosalinda), Aaron Cruz (Jackie), Cynthia Hernandez (Nick), and Belia Ramon (Simon).
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jorge, Joshua, Joel, and Jonas Rodriguez, and Miguel and Nycholas Contreras, his nephew, Eric Hernandez, and his stepson Bobby Salinas. His honorary pallbearers are his grandson, Eric Dominic Contreras and his granddaughters, Chloe and Riley Mariscal.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 at Ric Brown Funeral Home in Mission from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission at 11:30 am with burial to follow at RGV Veterans Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Funeral Home of Mission.
