MCALLEN – Francisco “Frank” Mauricio Barrera, 73, passed away on March 23, 2018, at McAllen Medical Center. He was born and raised in Mission. He served in the U.S. Airforce and rose to the rank of Staff Sargent. Frank retired from the U.S. Postal Service of Harlingen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of 40 years, Aidina “Dina” Barrera and his parents Pedro and Tomasa Barrera.
Frank is survived by his daughter Frances L. (Jason) De La Rosa of McAllen; step daughters Anna Marie (Edelberto) Hernandez of McAllen, Lily (Nestor) Santana of McAllen; grandchildren Deidra De La Rosa, Nathan De La Rosa, Dina Inch, Michael Valdez, Matthew Valdez, Vanessa Garcia, and Yulissa Santana. He is also survived by his brothers Reynaldo Barrera, Pedro Barrera Jr., Juan Barrera; sisters Angie Chandler, Carmen Ruiz, and Petra Zamora as well as by 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 1-9 pm with a 7 pm rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. A funeral mass will be held on March 26, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
