SAN JUAN – Elizabeth “Betty” Lawson Zaedow Beck passed away peacefully from Alzheimer’s on April 30, 2017. The oldest of 6 siblings, Betty was born on May 29, 1927 to Lelia Mae (Flaherty) Ellis Lawson and Edward Lawson in Fulton County, Illinois.
After marrying Paul L. Zaedow in 1948, they moved to the Rio Grande Valley and started a family. Betty touched the hearts of many souls along her life’s journey. She met many of her lifelong friends as a volunteer at the Methodist church, the Knapp Medical Center and Comfort House. She worked at Burris Dry Cleaners and the Junction Café in Pharr, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane Beck, her four sisters, Zella Hamilton, June Suttie, Bonnie Best and Leona Booth.
She is survived by her loving brother Louis A. McBee, her three children, Rodney (Esmeralda) Zaedow, P.J. Jarzombek and Carla Zaedow, two granddaughters, six great-grandchildren and family friend Sara Lopez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We wish to thank the caregivers at Briarcliff Nursing home in McAllen for all their help.

Betty will be missed by many. For me she had always showed her love friendship and respect to me. I will always feel honored that as a friend of Carla I was able to meet her mother and over the years enjoy her love. My heart and warmest wishes for Carla and her entire family and friends.

Our condolences to the family. Betty leaves behind many fond memories to be treasured by all who loved her so. I hope you can find comfort in your precious memories as well as God’s promise to resurrect those who have died (John 5:28,29). We, with you, look forward to the time when all pain, sickness and even death will be done away with as promised in Revelation 21:3,4. We hope God’s promises for the future bring you comfort during this difficult time.
