LEWISVILLE – Donald Downes Higbee died August 15, 2017 at the age of eighty-four. He was born in Camden, New Jersey and lived his early years in Haddonfield, New Jersey and then most of his adult life in Texas. He served two years on active duty in the Navy during the Korean War. He served twelve years as a Methodist minister and twenty-two years as a High School teacher where he served as head of the Social Studies department in Pearland, Texas. He enjoyed various sports, having played high school football in Haddonfield, New Jersey and coaching high school tennis in Pearland, Texas. Additionally, he participated in the senior olympics playing table tennis at his retirement community in Mission, Texas with winning several 1st division medals. He traveled the world with his wife and family. He enjoyed many adventures with his travels having seen all fifty states, most of Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
He lived the past two years with his wife, Corinne and daughter, Carol Higbee Iannuzzi, in Lewisville, Texas.
Donald was proceeded in death by his father, Capt.David D. Higbee, and mother, Thelma Downes Higbee. He also was preceded in death by his brother, David Downes Higbee, his sister, Helen Anne Higbee and son, David Paul Higbee. Donald is survived by his wife, Corinne Stout Higbee, son, Donald W. Higbee, wife, Tresa Land Higbee, and their sons, Jeremy Mosley, Alexander D. Higbee, Tyler J. Higbee. Donald is also survived by his daughter, Carol Higbee Iannuzzi, her son, Samuel D. Iannuzzi, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Mooney Higbee, her family, Grant A. Higbee, wife, Carissa, Gavin W. Higbee and
Addison K. Higbee.
There will be a Celebration of Life service, at Donald’s favorite Italian restaurant, Salerno’s, in Flower Mound, Texas at four o’clock on September 9, 2017 for family and friends.
