MISSION – Clara Ibarra Cantu, lovingly referred to as “Mama Clara” has gone home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2017. Known as a great woman and loved by many but above all a loving, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was born on August 12, 1940, in Camaron Nuevo Leon. She leaves behind a very heartbroken but united family. She is survived by her husband Oscar Cantu and 12 Children; Maria Lourdes Cantu, Elida Elizabeth Tijerina, Oscar Cantu Jr., Karla Cantu, Rosalinda Cantu Torres, Raul Cantu, Porfirio De Jesus Cantu, San Juanita Cantu, Clara Virginia Gonzalez, Kimberly Crystal Cantu, Lourdes Cantu, and Cassandra Cantu, 30 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grand Kids, 2 daughter in laws and 6 son in laws. She endured hardship with strength, and faith in God. She instilled self-worth and humbleness to us all. “Mama Clara” considered herself rich, not because of her material possessions, but because she was blessed with her family. Her happiest moments were when her family was together. She never held back her love and words of encouragement or blessings. Her wisdom, care, comfort, as she kept us in line, taught us to help one another and be united as a family. Most importantly, to always smile at life and cherish our blessings. All beautiful lessons that we will pass down to our children. We are truly the blessed ones, for having being able to call such an amazing woman “mom”. We loved her dearly and will never forget her advice, strength, charm, grace, and undying love and sacrifices she made. Please join the family in celebrating her life at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission. Viewing will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Friday, September 1, 10:00 AM to 9:00PM and Saturday September 2, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM followed by funeral mass at St. Joseph the Worker in McAllen at 2:00 PM.
