Obituary – Alice Lorraine “Lori” Neubauer

July 23

MISSION – Alice Lorraine Neubauer soared to heaven the evening of July 19, 2018 at the age of 78. Lorraine was born to the late William (Coy) and Letha Stevens on February 15, 1940.
Lorraine will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 40 years, Mike Neubauer and children Janet McRae (James), Steven Scott (Nohemi), Jody Neubauer (Palmer), Jenny Crihfield (Dean), and Michael Neubauer (Ines). Lorraine will also be fondly remembered by her eight grandchildren, Shanda Kutej (Corey), Steven Scott, Jessica Washburn (Jason), Kathryn Scott, Marilla Neubauer, Jameson Neubauer, Jonah Neubauer, Sadie Neubauer, great granddaughter Kimber Kutej, and her brother Henry (Cecil) Stevens.
Lorraine enjoyed travelling the world with her husband and spending time at their vacation homes in San Miguel, Mexico and South Padre Island where she was known as the “Piggy Perch Queen” every time she was on the water. As a talented organist and pianist, Lorraine spent numerous Sunday’s playing at First United Methodist Church of Mission and was invited to attend the Julliard School of Music. She was a gifted seamstress, having made the majority of the families Christmas stockings among other things. Her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as ‘Nana,’ kept her busy around the kitchen table with card and dice games, her favorite being Farkle as it was sure to become rowdy.
Often referred to as “Nurse Neubauer,” family and friends turned to Lorraine as she always knew just what to do in an emergency or how to make everything better. Her leadership abilities shined early on, holding officer positions in every organization she joined pre and post-graduation from Mission High School.
The family and countless friends will remember her culinary talents, especially her superb baking skills. She is already deeply missed and will forever remain in the heart of each of the lives she touched.
Visitation will be held Sunday July 22, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 pm at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home. Chapel service to be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm with burial to follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org). Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission is in charge of arrangements.
