Obituary – Alejandra F. Perez
MCALLEN – Alejandra F. Perez, 87 passed away on Friday September 7, 2018 at Stonebridge Health Center in Austin, TX. She was born on December 9, 1930, the second of thirteen children born to Austruberto and Esperanza B. Flores. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 21 years Santos P. Perez, three brothers, Noe Flores (Minnie) of Sullivan City, Francisco Flores (Flodia) of Penitas, Austruberto Flores (Elma +) of Edinburg and sister Josefina F. Guerra (Ciro +) of McAllen.
She is survived by her four children, Oscar D. Perez (Cynthia) of Edinburg, TX, Romeo Perez (Judith) of Austin, TX, Cynthia M. Scoggins (Don) of Mansfield, TX, and Aaron R. Perez of San Antonio, TX, 9 grandchildren, 2 grandsons-in-law, 1 granddaughter-in-law and 3 great grandchildren. Siblings include: Aurora F. Salinas (Armando +), Eutiquio Flores, Sr. (Maria +) of Edinburg, TX, Eloy Flores, Sr. (Blanca), Rolando Flores, Sr. (Raquel) of McAllen, TX, Efrain Flores of Sullivan City, TX, Zenon Flores, Sr. (Maria) of Freeport, TX, Esperanza F. Ochoa (Ramiro +) of Palmview, TX, and Marta F. Perez of Weslaco, TX.
Upon graduation from La Joya High School she began working for Sears and spent many years living in McAllen where she and Santos raised their family. In 1980, a few years after the death of her husband, Alejandra transferred with Sears and moved to Arlington, TX. After 32 years of service she retired and devoted her life to her children, especially her 9 grandchildren. Wherever Grandma was needed … she went! She spent time caring for her grandchildren in Weslaco, McAllen, Laredo, New Braunfels, Austin, Mansfield, Arlington and Winston-Salem, North Carolina!
Visitation is set for Friday, September 14, 2018 beginning at 1:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home located at 520 Ash Ave. in McAllen. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 305 S. 15th Street in McAllen. Burial to follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Pallbearers include her grandson’s Oscar D. Perez II, Aaron R. Perez, son-in-law Don Scoggins, nephew Rolando Flores, brother Zenon Flores and grand nephew Michael Lopez.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Stonebridge Health Center in Austin for the care they provided during her stay.
