September 16, 2018

MISSION – Alberto (Beto) Sanchez, 90, was called to the presence of the Lord on September 13, 2018. Alberto was born October 16, 1927 in Chihuahua, Texas to Jose Sanchez and Maria Guzman. He is preceded in death by his late parents: Jose Sanchez and Maria G. Date, his late wife Ofelia Ozuna Sanchez, a Son Adan Sanchez, a daughter Isabel Christina Martinez and a grandson Samuel Sanchez. Step father Isao Date, Brothers Armando R. Vela, Arnoldo Vela, & Adan Date, a sister Susie Date.
Alberto (Beto) helped his mother with the small farm and guided his brothers and sisters through the difficult late 1940’s and the 1950’s when the family migrated throughout Texas picking cotton and doing other farm work. When there were problems of difficult decisions to be made, his mother always turned to him by saying “aver que dice Beto.” Throughout his life Beto had the love, admiration and respect of his Mother, all his brothers and sisters, and all his sons and daughters. Alberto was a loving husband, father, grandfather & brother.
Alberto retired from the La Joya ISD as a bus driver where he worked numerous years. He was a hard-working man and raised his family in an honorable manner. Alberto was a humble, devoted, dedicated and faithful Christian man. He dedicated most of his time attending, teaching & being the first person at church. It’s been about two years since his health has not allowed him to attend church any longer. He might not have been able to attend church, but he made it a point to have Wednesday night service in his bedroom. He had his own service to worship his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He did the same on Sunday evenings; he did not let anything interfere with his time with the Lord. Alberto was a faithful member of the La Joya Mennonite Brethren Church where he attended most of his adult life until his health no longer allowed him. He was a good and faithful servant till the end.

He truly was a humble and dedicated follower of Christ. His words were few and very well said. We really enjoyed his friendship. May God help us to be loyal and faithful till the end just like brother Sanchez.

  2. Espie
