MISSION – Elma Villarreal Cruz, 86, passed away in the comfort of her home on Thursday, March 3, 2016 in Mission, TX. Elma was a very strong woman of faith, hard-working, loving and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed living life to the fullest. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Juanita Acevedo; sister, Maria Olivia Villarreal and two brothers, Alberto and Gregorio Villarreal.
Ms. Villarreal Cruz is survived by two daughters; Laura (Eduardo) Vela and Maria (Ruben†) Alvarez, ten grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, two sisters; Amalia Loya and Rosa Estrada, brother; Adelaido Villarreal, and a special lady whom we all call her sister; Isabel Gonzalez, who has 4 children, 10 grandchildren who were raised by Elma and all called her Ama Elma.
Major Efrain (Chavo) Reyna, Jr. and Ruben Alvarez, Jr. will be serving as an honorary pallbearers with Girbrian Acevedo, Juan Rendon, Ramiro Perez, Aldo Alvarado, Luis Reyna and Hector Guzman serving as pallbearers. I would like to especially thank her primary physician, Dr. Luis Arango and his wife for all the care and love they gave her. I also would like to thank Connie, Angelitos Primary and Home Health Care, Mission Hospital, Mission Nursing and Rehabilitation and Harbor Hospice for their care.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Ojo de Agua Cemetery in Abram, TX.
